Watercolor Painting

Using traditional watercolor techniques students will learn how to plan and execute a painting using a photograph as reference. In this class we will look at many examples of how photographs translate to paint. Through demonstration, students will be shown techniques such as wet on wet, layering, and more. This class will provide opportunities to transform any image into a work of art. All supplies will be provided.

Art is a journey; find your passion in this individualized class! Through discussion, journaling, and artmaking, learn the practice of becoming an artist. Work on a portfolio, a long-term project, or let the class lead you.

Painting from Nature

Held at the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts in Brookfield
Wednesdays, August 7-28, 6:00 – 8:00 pm

Get outdoors and get inspired! In this beginner class, start with the basics of acrylic painting. Then, using nature as a guide, explore how the patterns, textures, and colors can be translated and expressed with brush, canvas, and paint.

Abstract Landscape Painting

Held at the Peninsula School of Art, Fish Creek, WI


The landscape lends itself to rich interpretation and expression. Using acrylic paints and personal photo references, make sense of this subject matter as a jumping off point for abstraction as you explore composition, mark-making, and paint application.


Through demonstrations and discussions, Beki will review the basics of acrylic painting before moving into more experimental techniques. Students will work to create their own abstract landscape paintings with individualized feedback from the instructor and group. Open to all levels of experience. More advanced painters will have the opportunity to push the boundaries of their painting practice, while beginners will develop skill.

Abstract Landscapes at Cedar Valley

At the Cedar Valley Retreat Center, West Bend, WI

Sept. 6-8, 9am-4pm
In this stimulating class you will work from photos exploring abstraction through the subject of landscape. Starting with the basics of acrylics, mark making, glazing, and experimental methods learning to paint expressively. You will also learn the basics of abstraction including composition and evaluation.


The Art of Landscapes

Held at the Cedarburg Cultural Center, Cedarburg, WI

Saturday, October 19th, 9am-2pm

What makes a landscape breathtaking? Working from photographs, we will study the elements of a landscape and how acrylic painting technique can be used to recreate a scene.  We will be focusing on how to achieve things in a landscape like depth, atmosphere, and feeling.  We will discuss techniques and compositions that help create a successful landscape. Students will then work from their own images to create a finished landscape painting. The Supply List is available online.
